It was a privilege to witness social behavior amongst rhinos. This little white rhino calf was seeking affection from an adult.

Having enjoyed a good mud bath this white rhino was off grazing again. The mud giving the much needed protection against sunlight and parasites.
The glossy starlings perching on these rhinos feed off insects disturbed by their grazing and occasional remove a parasite from their skin.
The rhinos seem to love this shady shallow streams to drink and wallow in the muddy hollows.

Black rhinos are very alert and can be quite fierce, especially if they protect their calf. Their impressive horns serve as powerful weapons.

White rhinos tend to be a little more social than black rhinos. Females and youngsters form stable groups known as crashes. Adult bulls are basically solitary.
